Workplace Policy

Leadership Development Association Europe (LDA Europe)

Last updated: 3 July 2026

At LDA Europe, our people are at the heart of our mission. This Workplace Policy sets out the standards, values, and expectations that guide how we work together and how we treat one another and the communities we serve.

1. Purpose and scope

This policy applies to everyone who works with or represents LDA Europe — including staff, board members, volunteers, interns, mentors, contractors, and, where relevant, program participants. It complements our Code of Conduct and applies across all our offices and remote settings.

2. Our values

Everything we do is guided by six core values:

  • Integrity — honesty, accountability, and transparency;
  • Inclusiveness — welcoming every voice regardless of background;
  • Professionalism & teamwork — collaboration and high standards;
  • Excellence — striving for the highest level of learning and impact;
  • Innovativeness & creativity — pursuing bold, effective ideas;
  • Equality — respecting the equal value of every person.

3. Equal opportunity and non-discrimination

We are committed to equal opportunity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, religion or belief, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any other protected characteristic — in recruitment, participation, or day-to-day work.

4. A respectful workplace: anti-harassment and anti-bullying

Everyone has the right to a safe, respectful environment. Harassment, bullying, intimidation, and any form of abusive behavior — in person or online — are not tolerated. Concerns can be raised confidentially through the channels in Section 13.

5. Diversity, equity, and inclusion

As an international, youth-led organization, diversity is one of our greatest strengths. We actively work to create an inclusive culture where different perspectives are valued and everyone can contribute and grow.

6. Child and youth safeguarding

Zero tolerance. LDA Europe has zero tolerance for any form of abuse, exploitation, or harm to children and young people.

Because we work with young people, safeguarding is a priority. Everyone representing LDA Europe must:

  • Treat all young people with respect and act in their best interests;
  • Never engage in behavior that is abusive, exploitative, or inappropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate, transparent boundaries and avoid being alone with a minor where avoidable;
  • Obtain parental or guardian consent for the participation of minors in activities;
  • Report any safeguarding concern immediately through the channels in Section 13.

[CONFIRM: reference your designated Safeguarding Focal Point / officer and any national reporting requirements. This section should be reviewed by a child-protection specialist.]

7. Health, safety, and wellbeing

We are committed to protecting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people. We aim to provide safe working conditions at events and in our offices, and we encourage a healthy balance between work and personal life.

8. Working arrangements

LDA Europe operates across multiple offices and supports flexible, remote, and hybrid work. Team members are expected to be reliable, communicate openly, and deliver their responsibilities professionally, regardless of location. Volunteers and interns work within agreed roles and reasonable time commitments. [CONFIRM standard working hours and any country-specific labor requirements.]

9. Confidentiality and data protection

Team members must handle personal and organizational information responsibly and keep confidential information secure, in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection laws.

10. Conflicts of interest

Team members should avoid situations where personal interests conflict with those of the organization, and must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest so it can be managed appropriately.

11. Anti-corruption and ethical conduct

We act with integrity and comply with anti-corruption and anti-bribery standards. Bribery, fraud, and the misuse of organizational or donor funds are strictly prohibited. Funds — including grants such as Erasmus+ — must be used only for their intended purpose and properly documented.

12. Social media and public representation

When representing or referring to LDA Europe publicly or on social media, team members should act respectfully and professionally, protect confidential information, and avoid conduct that could damage the organization’s reputation.

13. Reporting concerns and whistleblowing

If you witness or experience discrimination, harassment, a safeguarding concern, or a breach of this policy, please report it. Reports can be made in good faith without fear of retaliation, and will be handled confidentially and fairly. Concerns can be raised with your supervisor, the board, or by emailing info@ldaeurope.com. [CONFIRM a named contact/officer for reports.]

14. Compliance and consequences

All team members are expected to uphold this policy. Breaches may lead to appropriate measures, up to and including ending the working relationship or participation, in line with applicable rules and law.

15. Review

This policy is reviewed periodically and updated as needed. The current version is indicated by the “Last updated” date above.
